Quote of the Week

“… Maybe it takes a long time to figure out what you’re truly searching for. Maybe you spend your whole life just to figure out a small part of it.” ―  Days at the Morisaki Bookshop, Satoshi Yagisawa

At some point (or multiple points) in life, I think most of us get stuck on the idea of ‘having it all figured out’ or ‘finding our one great purpose’. It feels like running on a treadmill in pursuit of a goal that we can’t quite see, but we know is there – it has to be there… if not, what is life really about? But this quote captures the essence of another quote: life is about the journey, not the destination.

We may not want the same thing today that we want tomorrow. As we change and grow and age, that thing we’re searching for may change, should change. And maybe that is the point… that it is supposed to take a long time to figure out what we’re searching for. Maybe it’s supposed to take our whole lives to discover only a fraction of it. But I don’t think it really matters how long it takes to figure it out. I think what matters most is that you never give up… never stop looking for it.
