Have you ever noticed how someone else is always left holding the bag, sorting through the rubble, and putting the pieces back together of someone else’s mistakes? A mother who wrongs her child leaves her child holding the shattered pieces of trust. A woman who wrongs her lover leaves them cradling the sharp fragments of their broken heart. A ruler who wrongs their people leaves them to put back the pieces of a broken society. It’s cyclical, the breaking, then leaving. When does it end? Where do we find reprieve from the responsibility of fixing what others have left for us? Will we ever learn?
