Happy Birthday, Blog! 🥳🥂

It has been one full year since I launched this blog, and it has been a journey – a journey I want to take the time to reflect on (hence the title 😅).

Starting this blog came from a simple desire to have a place to share my writing, my thoughts on writing, and my general randomness with the world. When I started, I didn’t have any grand notions of thousands of readers, or even ten. In truth, I only ever expected one or two readers… those being my parents (and for the record, to my knowledge, my parents don’t read my blog 😆). I hardly imagined having a loyal, steadily growing readership. I also never imagined that I would be so open and honest and vulnerable here because, let’s face it, the internet is a scary place for that.

My blog started as a place to share my writing, and that is still what it is to me; although, it has grown to mean so much more. It’s a hobby and a passion and a diary and a community and so many other things.

This year (using June 14th, 2022 to June 14th, 2023 as the marker) has been monumental for me as a writer, as I have been able to reach many of my writing goals and dreams. Not only have I shared my small pieces of writing with the world here on my website, but I have also self-published two novels, something I am so insanely proud of. As I have said in other posts, being a writer is my lifelong dream… the only thing I have ever truly wanted to be. Self-publishing has brought me closer to this dream than I ever thought possible, and I hope to keep moving toward that goal every day.

Looking back at the nearly 100 posts that I have published here, I can see the changes in style, tone, and voice that have developed over the year. I can see where my confidence and comfort have grown steadily with each post. What a gift it is to be able to track a year’s worth of writing!

Looking forward, I hope to have another great year! I hope to continue growing my blog and writing my novels (I have two more in the works now 😉). I hope to see another year’s worth of growth and improvement.

Thank you to anyone who has joined me on this year’s journey, whether you have been here since the start or just got here yesterday. I cannot be more sincere or earnest when I say THANK YOU. I am truly grateful to ALL of my readers. And thank you for coming along with me on this next year’s journey… I hope it’s a good one!
